MP3 to M4A Converter
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 2 decades, you already know what Mp3 files are and how good they are at keeping audio file sizes down without losing a lot of quality. M4A files, on the other hand, are not that popular yet due to its relatively young age. The biggest difference between the two sound formats is that the M4A does everything better than the MP3 format; from higher compression rates resulting in smaller filesizes to better quality at the same bitrate. Migrating from the latter to the former seems like a given, but how do you go about it?
The easiest – and probably the only - way is to use an Mp3 to M4A converter. There are a number of Mp3 to M4A converters available on the net, and majority of the newer audio editing software nowadays provide users with the option to output M4A files. However, you need to watch out for the quality of the output, since converting from one sound format to another will always incur a loss in quality, even if the output format is of higher bitrate. As a general rule of thumb, when it comes to sound conversion, you can always downgrade sound quality but it is impossible to upgrade. You cannot reproduce and improve quality that has already been discarded the first time around.
You can get around this by only converting MP3s that are high quality (192kbps and above), or by converting the source CD instead of the MP3 itself. Alternatively, if you use iTunes, you can just buy the songs from there since M4A is the iTunes format.
